When we acquired the store, we set about creating a community plan that involved literally talking to hundreds of people to find out how we could best support our local community. It was important to us that anything we did would be sustainable and offer a real support. We were introduced to Lakeview/ Swan Sanctuary and now donate all of our produce and bread waste which provides a lifeline to these small charities.
Our schools are also important to us and we are delighted to have forged strong relationships with Saxon School and St Nicholas’ School, both in Shepperton and South Ascot Village School as well as Cheapside, both in Ascot. We encourage the schools to come and visit us in store whenever possible, to use the store as a virtual classroom in order to bring their learning to life. We are also supporting individual projects within the schools, including our popular Bread and Pasta topic weeks which run alongside the curriculum and have proved extremely popular for children and teachers alike!
For 5 years now we have sponsored the Shepperton Village Fair, a great community event. We have held colouring competitions for our local school children to celebrate this event – do pop along to the store to admire their handiwork when you can!
We are proud of our support for the local communities in which we work – drop into the stores to have a look at our Local Community boards on which we detail what we have been doing.
