When we acquired the store in 2006, we set about creating a community plan that involved literally talking to hundreds of people to find out how we could best support our local community. It was important to us that anything we did would be sustainable and offer a real support. We were introduced to Lakeview/ Swan Sanctuary and now donate all of our produce and bread waste which provides a lifeline to these small charities.
Our schools are also important to us and we are delighted to have forged strong relationships with Saxon School in Shepperton and South Ascot Village School as well as Cheapside, both in Ascot. We encourage the schools to come and visit us in store whenever possible, to use the store as a virtual classroom in order to bring their learning to life. We are also supporting individual projects within the schools, with donations from our savings of plastic bags particularly.
For 3 years now we have sponsored the Shepperton Village Fair, a great community event. We also were delighted to throw a party for the Ascot community in Sept 2010 to celebrate 100 years of trading on the High Street.
We are always pleased to hear of any worthwhile causes in our local community so don’t hesitate to come and see us if you know of something we may be able to help with.
